You’ve done your best to get the basics down, like washing your hands regularly, putting on a face mask and keeping a safe distance. But sometimes, you can’t help but feel worried if your efforts are enough to protect you from contracting the virus.
So, instead of sharing our usual articles related to renting short term or long term service apartments, we’ll be sharing some preventive measures you can make to help prevent the spread of COVID-19! Besides putting a mask on and washing your hands, here are some other things you can do to protect yourself.
1. Avoid touching your face
The COVID-19 virus can linger on most surfaces for up to 72 hours. No matter what you do, your hands are always busy touching something. And without you realising, you might have touched your face after touching these items, which can increase the risk of getting infected.
We touch our face so often, as supported by studies which found that people touch their face at least 16 times in just an hour. Even if we clean our hands, the probability of recontaminating them between washings is significantly high.
To play it safe, you should make a conscious habit to avoid touching any parts of your face or head. This includes your mouth, nose, and eyes too.
2. Reduce contact with other individuals
Keeping a distance of at least a metre from others is highly recommended. So, if you enter the shared facilities in your rented service apartments, keep this in mind if you bump into other housemates!
The government has also implemented a set of rules to aid with safe distancing, such as remote working and limiting the number of people in a shared space. As an individual, you can do your part by sticking with these rules as much as you possibly can.
3. Clean and disinfect surfaces
With alcohol-based disinfectants, wipe your phone, laptop, and anything else that you use regularly. Every once in a while, it’d be great if you can perform a deep cleaning session of your entire apartment. After all, your home is like your safe haven during these trying times!
4. Stay home if you feel unwell
Anytime you start experiencing flu-like symptoms or if you simply feel under the weather, staying home is a recommended course of action to take! By self-quarantining, you’re actually making a massive difference in your community.
Try to avoid entering shared facilities unless necessary. And when you do, make sure you have a mask on to ensure everyone’s safety.
If you think you need urgent medical care, don’t hesitate to call for medical personnel to come over and pick you up.
5. Take care of yourself
By making an effort to eat healthily and keep active, you’re reducing the chances of catching the virus. In turn, you’re also preventing others from falling sick by taking care of yourself! As cliché as this may sound, self-care really is the best form of care. For instance, putting on a mask before you render help to others, can really go a long way.
These measures are essential to follow because research about COVID-19 is still happening, which is why we must protect ourselves and others in hopes of flattening the curve.
Sometimes, you might be carrying the infection without showing any symptoms at all. As such, don’t underestimate the power of washing your hands and putting on your mask whenever possible.
